It was perfect weather today, & free day at the Denver Zoo, so Ethan and I made an afternoon of it & we had a great time! All the animals (with the exception of the "bang bang rhinos" and the hippos) were out and very active - which was nice.

I brought Ethan's jogging stroller with us instead of his regular stroller, thinking that it would be a more luxurious ride through the zoo. It was a great idea until we got to the section of the zoo that had cement or metal gates & walls with greenery growing on them that

blocked the actual view of the animals from stroller level. You know what that means? Yup, I ended up pushing the stroller with one hand and carring Ethan in the other arm for quite some time. Not the luxurious ride I had in mind...but it was great resistance training! I loved having Ethan cuddle up to me & lay his head on my shoulder as we walked around though, so you won't hear me complain.

Ethan made monkey sounds (often with the arm motion) every time I said "look at the monkey". The funny thing is that I said that quite a few times as we strolled through the monkey house. It amused quite a few people. He also growled everytime I pointed out a bear, lion, tiger or other predatory cat like animal. I loved it.
* By the way, check out the claws on that brown bear - that guy could use a serious manicure.

Ben Quinn, I thought of you everytime this "MALE PEACOCK" crossed our path. We missed having you all with us at the zoo today.

I've been wanting to take the girls to the zoo for the longest time. I think they would love it. Seeing your cute photos has made me even more determined if I can just find one more day with good weather this month!
those are some nasty nails on the bear! yikes! i'm glad ethan enjoyed the zoo. caroline still prefers the cool trucks that the zookeepers drive around instead of oogling at the animals. go figure.
