NO NEWS IS STILL NO NEWS

Yet another day goes by without any real conclusive news...Scot's still in the hospital, his fever has been coming and going throughout the day (the highest I believe was back to 103.5). He finally had a visit from his Dr. about 7pm tonight. The Dr. let Scot know that they were ruling out a couple options they'd mentioned yesterday, but were still awaiting more of his blood work. (Yup, still no new info - frustrating to say the least, but we'll continue to be patient). Dr. Solsberg, one of the Radiologists who works for Scot, happened to stop by shortly after the Infectious Disease Dr. left. He found that Scot was in a quite a bit of pain and suffering from the effects of his rebounding fever. He left the room to check Scot's charts & talk with the nursing staff...it seems to have worked in Scot's favor to have had his friend stop by. Scot has been instructed to keep a journal of his pain so that he can help the nurses stay on top of his pain. Dr. Solsberg told Scot he shouldn't ever have to be in any pain - which is good. I don't think Scot would've known to ask for meds before the designated time was up, but now he does. Green light, baby.

We're hoping, again, that we will have some further information tomorrow. It has been nice to have the Dr.'s rule out some of the more serious possibilities - but we'll all feel a lot better when we know exactly what we're dealing with. For now, Scot is enjoying some sleeping meds to make the hospital bed more "comfortable" (cough), and some stronger antibiotics that should wipe out a wider array of potential problems. I'm sure he'll be happy to have his laptop with him tomorrow - the blackberry just hasn't been good enough. I think it's safe for me to diagnose him with chronic hospital boredom.

By the way, I wanted to thank everyone for the support & prayers in our behalf. We really appreciate it, and know Scot can use all the prayers he can get right now.

As for my day (other than waiting for some sort of good news to come from Scot), I was able to disinfect my entire bedroom, bathroom etc., & found that I already had another half dozen loads of laundry to do (it piles up SO FAST). While I was cleaning my room and gathering laundry throughout the house etc. I tried to coax Ethan into hang out in one of our guest rooms (to keep him away from potential germs) to watch Sesame Street. He doesn't like to be too far away from me, but he did manage on his own for a little while, thanks to the company of two of his special friends. He's been a real angel - even though he's testing his boundaries a lot right now. (He loves to watch my face while he goes back to deliberately do whatever I've just told him NOT to do. It's a fun game until someone ends up in solitary confinement for a minute in their bed...I sure wish that person was me!).

Ethan has been adding words to his vocabulary like CRAZY lately. He's been trying to repeat many of the words I say, which is really cute. Scot got to hear Ethan say a few of his newest words over the phone today, which I know made him extremely happy...but nothing beats Ethan's hugs & kisses. GET WELL SOON SCOT - Ethan awaits!

Kris--you seem to be handling this well, but I'm sure you're worried. If you need/want to talk, give me a call. I'm sure he'll be fine, but hospitals are never fun. Well, unless you are on the staff of grey's anatomy, and you're sleeping with Patrick Dempsey in the closet. Hello.

Hey Kiss

I just read the blog last night and I woke up all worried and thought, I need to call Kris! I will call you a little later in the day when I know I won't be waking anybody up. Life is so crazy isn't it? (in the words of Ethan, using the words of Kris!)

I just have to say props to you for keeping up on everything so well (laundry is my worst nightmare) and maintaining a positive attitude. We love you and we have you all in our prayers.
