MISSING DAD

They've kept Scot in the hospital for another day...running tests etc. His fever was over 103 multiple times today, which shows that his body is still fighting whatever is causing him such grief. The Dr.'s are still chasing potential possibilities, but nothing conclusive as of yet. The Gastro and Internal Medicine Dr.'s he met with today were still baffled by his list of symptoms which don't lead to any one thing in particular. Most of the symptoms fit in a handful of categories, but there are other symptoms that don't directly link in. Medicine is quite a science. I was able to talk to my brother Matt tonight & ran through some of the possibilities the Dr's here had listed. Matt is brilliant, and also happens to be a Dr., so I value his input a great deal (we all do). He was able to poke serious holes in some of the more worrisome options the Dr.'s had come up with today, which was a relief. I felt much more at ease after my conversation with him, so THANKS MATT!! We all love you & appreciate your knowledge & expertise. ( :

This evening, an Infectious Disease Dr. visited with Scot. After their discussion, Scot said he really felt confident that this Dr. understood all his symptoms and would be able to help him. They started him on antibiotics tonight (thankfully) and have kept him on pain meds all day. I know Scot's thankful for that. We're hoping that the antibiotics will kill whatever bacteria is at loose in Scot's system. Scot's been told that they should have some better answers for him tomorrow when they get all his bloodwork and test results back. We're keeping our fingers crossed that good news is a comin'. (Something tells me that our prayers will most likely work better than the crossed fingers...).

Ethan has been missing his Dad & has looked for him many times today - calling out "DAD" throughout the house. Hopefully tomorrow he'll actually be able to give him a big hug to welcome him home. Scot banned me from coming to the hospital today. He doesn't want me there until they figure out what's wrong just in case it's contageous (which I highly doubt, but for Ethan's sake, I've stayed away).

We went to dinner at Grandma Judie and Grandpa Steve's house tonight, and as always Ethan was full of it. He had unloaded all the tractor toys from one of Grandma's storage bins & after playing with them for quite some time, the container started to look pretty appealing. Just as we went to get him ready for bed, he broke loose & climbed in, packing every toy in reach around his little body(which after a while amounted to quite a few). He played in that bin for quite a while - and went back to it even after we wrestled him into his PJ's. Kids play with the darndest things...or at least my kid does.

Happy 2nd Birthday to Ethan's adorable cousin Sage. We love you & hope you had a fabulous day. Can't wait to see a picture of your special duck cake. ( :

It would help if I read your blog posts in order. :) I'm glad Matt has given you some mental relief. Thanks for remembering Sage on her birthday -- you're always so good about that even with everything going on! We love you!
