LOOKS EASY ENOUGH

Occasionally on Sundays, during Sacrament meeting, I trace Ethan's hand so that he can color on it to keep himself busy (& hopefully quiet). As I'm sure I've mentioned in the past, Ethan loves to draw. (I should note for the sake of history that lately he's enjoyed this talent a little too much...I've found his work on and in library books, which I've done my best to remove, & I recently noticed some of his abstract art on the back of our printer - it's as though he sees everything around him as a blank canvas).

Tonight, I turned him loose with an entire notebook - I thought it would keep him busy for a few minutes at least. The first thing he did was lay his hand down flat on the paper to trace it. I was impressed to say the least - he's never been that cooperative for me. ( ; I suspect that by Thanksgiving, he'll be able to make a construction paper hand turkey like I made in elementary school. We shall see.

UPDATE ON SCOT: He's been making improvements everyday for the better. He went back in to work part-time this week, but in reality, it's turned into more full-time as the week has progressed. He's been wiped out every afternoon, & he admitted that he's been pushing a little too hard. He has promised that next week he will be much more laid back - hopefully he's learned that in order to allow his body time to heal and recover, he needs to take it slow. The beginning of this week, he still had no appetite & couldn't get much down. He ate a lot of broth from soups, Odwalla shakes and a few other things...but it seems like his appetite is also improving with each day. We're all happy that he's on the road to recovery.

It's funny, Sage has been trying to trace her hand lately too and make turkeys out of them like McKinley does. We're glad Scots doing a little better. Tell him we don't want him to push too hard and end up back in the ER. Take it easy, Scot! We love you all!
