CUSTARD CONES & THE ER

No, the two do not typically go together, but that pretty much gives you a glimpse into my overly crazy day. Scot has been sick off and on for about 3 weeks now - but things got progressively worse this weekend. He was able to make it through the night, thanks to a blessing & some serious determination, and first thing this morning he headed into one of his centers to have some tests run. When 3 of his Radiologists couldn't find anything wrong with his organs (after an MRI with and without contrast, CT, Ultrasound & Xray), they sent him off to his Internal Medicine Dr., who drew a bunch of blood, tested for the flu, pneumonia, etc. Because Scot's nausea was so bad on top of everything else (fever, headache, aching bones etc...) they gave him a shot to alleviate some of the nausea. The PA called me after administering the shot and said "This is Deb from Dr. Burrows office calling to ask you if you can come pick up your other child" - I thought someone had dialed the wrong number. It took me a second to realize that they were calling about Scot - and then it made perfect sense. ( : Ethan and I packed up the car and headed over to get Scot & then headed back to the Dr's office a little later with Grandma Judie to retrieve Scot's car. Poor Ethan couldn't figure out why we were driving back and forth to the same spot without ever getting out of the car...so Grandma Judie remedied that by suggesting that we stop off at CJ's for a custard cone. There were no complaints out of Ethan, he ate the entire cone and then some of mine. Grandma always knows best.

After putting Ethan down for bed, I was preparing to go pick up Scot's perscriptions and stopped in to check on him. He was shaking out of control - like he was freezing, even though he was wearing multiple layers & laying under a stack of blankets. I called for back-up (thankfully Scot's parents live close) and they came over while I ran for perscriptions. Upon arriving home, Scot decided it was time we took him into the ER to get him some help. Mom W. stayed with Ethan, and Dad W. and I took Scot to the hospital & stayed while they ran more tests. We left around 1am when they decided to admit Scot into the hospital for further observation. We're hoping that they'll be able to figure out what's wrong quickly so that Scot can come home.

We love you Scot. Get well soon!

I hope all is well with Scot. Please keep us updated. Sounds like you've had a very interesting couple of days. Custard and Grandma, that's a great combination. You're so blessed to be near family. I don't know what I'm going to do when my parents leave Louisville next year.
