WEEKEND UPDATE

( I neglected mentioning our Friday event in my earlier post).

Ethan, Brynn and I met our friend Linda Hancock for lunch at Costa Vida on Friday afternoon. Lucky for us (mainly Ethan), there were 8-10 various construction vehicles working on an empty lot across the street. It was all we could do to make it through lunch with all the excitement, and we ended up spending quite a bit of time, post-lunch, outside watching all the worker men. Ethan was thrilled to be right next to the spot where a worker man came and used a gigantic wrench to open the flood gates of the fire hydrant in order to fill the tank on the back of his truck with water. He's talked about it many times since Friday. Even more interesting than the filling of the tank? Ethan kept saying "Did you see that guy spraying the water on the dirt to keep it from getting too dusty?" Nothing gets past this kid, and I mean nothing. Brynn, on the other hand, had no interest in the construction work and decided she'd spend her time catching some zzzz's. I can't say I blame her. ( :

Okay, now, onto my Sunday update. We had Stake Conference today - which, for us, was a broadcast from SLC with the speakers John Madsen, Pres. Monson's daughter (I can't remember her name), Robert D. Hales and Henry B. Eyring. It would've been a great meeting, but as luck, or a couple of small children would have it, we weren't able to listen to more than a talk or two before we were forced to withdraw from the meeting. Scot ended up outside, watching Ethan work on the water pipes, and I visited the Mother's lounge to feed Brynn and change a minor blowout (which I did not have a back up outfit to replace). I then returned to the meeting only to have Brynn do another number that sent me to the car in search of a backup diaper. That's when Scot decided to call it quits. At least we made the effort to go, even if we didn't get much of anything out of the meeting.

Scot and his cousin, JD, were really excited about watching the NY Giants play the Philadelphia Eagles tonight. Ethan, who considers himself one of the boys (sans the manly facial hair), was totally into the game too. Around the time I was preparing to get him ready for bed, he snuggled up with JD on the couch for protection. It was too cute to break up, so I let him lay there for a little while - at least until I thought he was tired enough to just give in. Brynn spent her fair share of time with the boys too. She didn't complain, in fact - she was drooling over the entire experience.
