TEACHING MOMENT

Ethan and Scot went on a father/son date to see Madagascar 2 this morning. When they got home, neither of them were hungry for lunch cause they'd had popcorn and rootbeer at the movies. After Ethan played for a while, he asked me to take off his shoes cause he was tired and wanted to take a nap. (He's a miracle child & is typically very agreeable at nap/bedtime). He wanted to read a couple stories, which we did, and then he decided he wanted to read stories about Jesus. (*G&G made him a binder with all the pictures from the scriptures, pictures of the prophets etc.). I never turn down a gospel teaching opportunity - but he then announced "I am going to read about Jesus all by myself." As he flipped the pages, he'd stop at the pictures that he was familiar with and tell me about them, or he'd say "what's this one about?". We got to the back portion of the binder where there are pictures of a few of the earliest temples, and Ethan stopped and pointed at each temple picture (Kirtland, Nauvoo and SLC specifically) and said "This is a temple. I live there. I lived there with Jesus." It's little wonder why Jesus loves little children...I have a lot of work to do to become just like Ethan.

* Scot just told me that today when they were at the movie, Ethan (out of nowhere) looked at him and said "Heavenly Father loves me, and Bob loves me, and Jesus loves me". (As in Bob the Builder).

So sweet. It is those moments that make being a parent worth it!
