HEY MOM...

Just a couple things that I don't want to forget:

- Tonight, Ethan said to me (as I sometimes say to him) "Hey Mom, I have something for you." and then he leaned over and gave me a big kiss. I love that he remembers everything...well, for the most part anyway. ( :

- We went to the Home Depot today and while I was doing some shopping for Christmas (yes, I had some shopping to do for Ethan at the Home Depot - it's kind of his thing right now), Scot went and bought Ethan a pair of his very own real, giant plyers. I was in a different lane making my purchases and when I met up with all of them outside, Scot told me that after they got out there, he noticed that they had a scissor function that he hadn't noticed inside. He assured me that the scissor part was dull, but I had a talk with Ethan about having to be extremely careful with his new plyers. He's been very proud of his new plyers all day, and has been showing them to everyone that has entered our house. Tonight, I was getting Brynn ready to put to bed and he brought them over to me and said "Look at my new plyers mom, aren't they neat?" I agreed and then asked him what he needed to remember about those plyers and he said "I need to be careful because they have some sharp edges." I think he's got it. It's hard to believe this kid is 2 1/2 cause he certainly doesn't seem like it.

- He has been climbing a ladder that we have in our room, and earlier Scot told him that he couldn't climb up one side and showed him the sticker that says do not climb. Ethan looked like he was going to stand on one of the bars on the wrong side of the ladder tonight and I quickly asked him what he was doing. He smiled at me and pointed at the sticker and said "This says do not climb up this side of the ladder" and then went to the other side and pointed at a random sticker and said "this says you should climb up this side of the ladder." What is this kid going to be like when he's 3? (*alarm battery was dying and started chirping every 20 seconds at 4am, so Scot went out to the garage to get a ladder so that he could get the battery out of the firealarm at the top of our vaulted ceiling. His question was why does stuff like this always have to happen when I'm on vacation?).

- He called one tool the "bruuhhh bruhhh" (which sounds essentially like a drill) and the other tool his architect tool.

- He was going down the list of people who love him today. Among the people he mentioned (family members, aunts and uncles, cousins etc.), he included the cooker guy (I assume he's talking about his buddies at Costa Vida), Bob the Builder and a few others. I'm sure the cooker guy would be happy he made the list.
