SAN DIEGO TEMPLE

It's our final full day in San Diego. Being a Sunday, we make sure it was a day of rest... which was exactly what we needed after the action packed week we've had. The San Diego temple ranks amongst of my favorites temples (visually of course, since the purpose of all of them is the same). They had scaffolding up around part of the temple to clean the building, but it was still gorgeous as ever. Ethan even practiced his photography skills (he took this picture of Scot, Brynn and me together - not bad huh?)
Just as a side note, they are currently working to construct a visitors center on the grounds of the San Diego temple, which the couple missionaries assured us will stay very busy with all the people that come to the temple grounds out of curiosity and interest.
It's been non-stop fun since we got here, which I'm not complaining about, but it was sure nice to lay low for a day. We had breakfast here at the hotel...both the kids were dressed and ready for the day when we went downstairs, I was not. Typical for this trip. I usually get ready after breakfast just before we head out on some activity, but today I was not so lucky. When we got back up to the room, I started repacking the bags just to make sure that was partially done and then I played with the kids for a while. Before I knew it, it was time for lunch. Scot and Ethan headed out to Roberto's, our new favorite Mexican restaurant here (that my friend Liz tipped us off to), to pick up some lunch. Brynn and I stayed behind so that she wouldn't fall asleep in the car. Smart planning. By the time they got back, we ate and then I got Brynn (and myself) down for a nap. Day of rest indeed. It was 2:30 pm before I even got into the shower.
When we were all showered and ready for the day, we took a family outing to walk around the grounds of the San Diego temple. I love that place...LOVE it. I think it's one of the most beautiful temples out there - not that there are any least beautiful temples, but there's just something about it. The kids loved it. They smelled the flowers, looked at the pictures the missionaries had of the interior of the temple and ran from location to location trying to take it all in. I loved watching them.
Brynn's shoe kept coming off, and she would stop moving just long enough to let me put it back on her before she'd say "running" and insist that I let her down. Her vocabulary has been increasing at an amazing speed, and even getting more and more clear. When people ask her what her name is, she smiles and says "Brynn". She's getting the "R" sound in there most of the time now too. ( :

From the looks of it, I think we're finally ready to head home.

San Diego is one of my favorites too. San Diego, Washington DC and Bountiful -- though not in that order. Everyone needs a day now and then to not shower until 2:30. :)
