LUCK OF THE IRISH

As luck would have it - my children do actually have some Irish blood running through their veins...with special thanks to their Great Grandpa Robert Madden. We went to dinner last night with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Jerri, and Ethan was trying to tell Grandpa Bob about leprechaun's, treasures, the wearing of his FAVORITE color green...the works. Needless to say, we've been looking forward to St. Patty's day since they started making festive things at school. He had his green shirt all picked out for today and everything.

This morning, I made the kids green pancakes and green scrambled eggs in keeping with the big day. (Yes, I know that these things are supposed to happen mysteriously...not be done WITH the kids, but I wasn't that prepared today). The kids always love to help me make stuff in the kitchen, and this morning was no different. Brynn had been standing on the step stool helping to pour ingredients when Ethan decided to join her. It was a little crowded, and they were arguing a little bit trying to secure their own space - and I was trying to help them work it out...so it was sounding rather chaotic. From the office Scot called out "everybody needs to take a big breath and calm down in there." I kind of looked up, a little bit surprised since he had no idea what was actually taking place - but I said nothing. Ethan, under his breath says "Scot is so uptight." I burst out laughing and headed towards the office to tell Scot. ( : I'm not sure where Ethan heard that phrase or how he even knows what uptight means - but it was quite possibly one of the funniest things I've heard in a while.

Kids do say the darnedest things. What's embarrassing is that their commentaries about Mom are usually dead on the money.
