THE THING ABOUT HOSES...

I don't know when I'll stop laughing, but I had to document this while it was fresh. Ethan's in the potty training mode, though he technically has no interest in actually USING the toilet, he's still required to make progress in that direction. That said, it does explain the fact that he's noticed that boys and girls use the toilet differently when they are peeing. Scot and JD have been working on finishing our garage...and Scot came in to use the restroom. Ethan must've followed Scot in, because this is what I heard:

E: Daddy, you have a hose on your penis and I have a hose on my penis, and JD has a hose on his penis - but mommy doesn't have a hose.

D: (through a laugh) You're right Ethan.

E: (leaves the bathroom and goes out to the garage where we hear Ethan talking to JD through a laugh) JD, do you know what I just told Daddy?

JD: What?

E: That you have a hose on your penis, and Daddy has a hose, and I have a hose but mommy doesn't

JD: (smiling & wanting to laugh, while Scot and I (totally laughing) secretly watched the conversation go down through the cracked door) Oh yeah dude?

E: Yup, that's right. That's what I said.

I'm not sure when we'll recover from that conversation, but Ethan certainly doesn't miss much.

Ok, so onto another more normal topic...We've hired JD, Scot's cousin, to finish our garage. He's done the insulation, and is working on the drywalling now. There are some crazy high vaults in the ceilings and quite a bit of work to be done - so it's a bigger project than we had originally anticipated, not to mention that Scot had a gas line run for his new garage heater. Talk about building a man cave - I have a feeling Scot will be spending a lot of time out there next winter. It's been snowing like crazy today, so we've been laying low and have enjoyed playing at home. Ethan spent quite a bit of time "working" in the garage with Scot and JD, which he LOVED. He's got some serious enthusiasm for work. Hopefully he can keep that when he is older and actually HAS to work...chances are high that he will get burnt out like everyone else, but for now - he's feeling the love.
