STAIRS. GARAGE. SLURPEE
In that order.
My morning was going perfectly well until about 7:50 a.m. when Scot fell down the stairs. He didn't fall down ALL of the stairs, but at least 8 (or more...he's not quite sure). He was on his way down the stairs so that he could watch Ethan while I ran to my Cub Committee meeting this morning. It's a beautiful day and he says he was looking out the windows as he walked & isn't sure, but thinks he might have hit the edge of a step or something. (Our stairs curve, so they're a little more narrow on one side than they are on the other). All I heard from the kitchen was a series of loud thuds and then moaning. NOT GOOD. I found him on his stomach at the bottom of the stairs in complete and utter pain. He stayed there for quite some time and then moved into the living room to see if he could get comfortable. We're pretty positive that he didn't break anything, but the fact that he had some tingling and numbness in his hands & pain in his right shoulder and neck didn't sound great to me. (*Please note that he refused all medical help - wouldn't go see any of our friends - who are Doctors, refused urgent care, and everything else medically related. I can guarantee that he'll be getting an MRI on Monday when he goes to work to see if anything is out of wack). I called my brother Matt, who is a Doctor, so that I could get an idea of what Scot's injuries could potentially be. Matt was really reassuring and told us that Scot would probably just be really REALLY sore, but said that the tingling and numbness should be checked out. Not going to happen today - that's my stubborn Scot for you. / :
He tried to get comfortable sitting on the couch, which he couldn't, and after a short while he was determined to get out to the garage to start the organization project we have been planning on for a while. It's a gorgeous day and he wasn't going to sit in the house and be bored all day. Nothing (and I mean NOTHING) was going to stop him from getting the garage off his "to do" list. We worked in the garage from about 8:45 until nearly 5. I missed my Cub meeting (sorry Allison), but we got a lot done in the garage, and Scot smiled for the above photo - which is something. As with all great organizational Saturdays, we took a trip to Home Depot to get some storage bins, but somehow we didn't manage to get enough...so we'll be going back there on Monday so that we can get this project squared away. I must say, even though there is still a little work to do, & some dry walling/insulation in the 3rd car section of the garage, it looks great out there! Ethan helped all day - with the exception of his nap, so when our work was done for the day, we went to 7-11 and got a Slurpee as a reward. I haven't had a slurpee for YEARS and it sounded (and tasted) so delicious. It was Ethan's first introduction, and by the looks of his face & t-shirt, he was WILD about the wild cherry. ( : (* The picture captured his current rendition of a "thumbs up".)

Who isn't WILD about Wild Cherry slurpees? Scot has had quite the year hasn't he? Maybe a gate at the stairs can serve more purpose than just stopping Ethan from going down! I hope everything is okay. And there is nothing more rewarding than sitting back and seeing the results of a long day at work... I love crossing things off the "To Do" list.
Sounds rough, is Scott okay?
