EENY, MEENY, MINY, MOE

Ethan turns 2 on Tuesday, which means that tomorrow my cake preparations begin. Scot has asked Ethan multiple times what kind of cake he wants me to make for him this year...not kind as in flavor - but kind as in shape. Last year, I chose to make him a frog cake. He wasn't really into frogs, but it looked like it would be easy to make, and so his birthday became all about me. ( : This year, I pulled together a few cake ideas, but Scot thought it would be great if Ethan had the opportunity to make the decision for himself. On Friday morning when Scot inquired, Ethan said he wanted a "basketball", then quickly changed his mind to "tools".

Today when Scot asked him, he did not hesitate before saying "Jesus". I shot Scot a look of fear because I'm not THAT skilled at cake decorating, nor do I feel it would be appropriate to ever make a Jesus cake. That said, I threw out a couple ideas of things he might like & then asked him again - hoping that he might latch on to one of my other brilliant ideas. Ethan's answer again was - "Jesus cake". I told Scot we'll be picking the cake ourselves this year and we'll let him choose something next year. Scot and I sat down at the computer (with Ethan), and I think we've finally landed on a crocodile cake. Wish me luck.

Ha. Ethan is probably laughing to himself thinking, "I really stumped em this time!!"

You did a fabulous job on the frog cake. It is so cute. I am sure you will make a great crocodile cake as well. What a fun skill. When I have kids can you make my cakes and then FedEx them to me?!!

OK first I LOVE the frog. And second so funny that Ethan is stuck on a Jesus cake.

I'm sure anything you make him will keep him happy though....you've got mad cake skills how could he not be happy!!!

Yeah, I ran down to Albertson's for Emma's cute birthday cake last year, but you're inspiring me. I somehow didn't realize that Ethan and I share a birthday. That will be easy to remember from now on. I hope his two's are tantrum free!

Emma's birthday is tomorrow as well. I'm feeling guilty that I haven't even thought of a fun cake. It will be a 9x13 pink cake frosted pink (that is all she has requested is that she has a pink cake) unless I can enlist my mother's help. I love the frog cake. Good luck with the Alligator cake.

Okay - you are my cake-making hero! That frog is absolutely perfect. I have no doubt you COULD pull off a Jesus cake - but the Crocodile will be cute too. We're having a "Ladybug" themed party for Olivia's #2 in July. Care to come out and make her cake? :)

You are just like your mother, making creative birthday cakes! You are carrying on a tradition that your children will enjoy.

Maybe you could make a jesus cake for a ward activity, that might be competition with Sarah's pioneer barbie cake!! Can't wait to see how the alligator cake turns out...
