IF I HAD A HAMMER...

I believe the old song says "If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning - I'd hammer in the evening - I'd hammer all over this land, if I had a hammer." Well today, I found out that when Ethan is involved, the lyrics to that song are entirely true.

Our friends, Linda & Bruce Hancock sent an early birthday gift home with Scot to give to Ethan. Before Scot left for work this morning, we let Ethan open his present. He couldn't rip the paper open fast enough and just as he caught a glimpse of the box he exclaimed with complete and utter joy "Bob the Builder!", immediately followed by his running in place saying "Linda surprise!" I'd say it was a HUGE hit, but that would be an understatement.

His first request was "hammer". Lucky for me toy companies package all toys with Fort Knox style security. That hammer wasn't going to come out without a fight - which incidentally, I won. As each tool was freed, he would point the next one he wanted until all the tools, his belt & hat were safely in his possession. He was in Bob the Builder tool heaven. He played with his tools all day long and well into the night. Sweet dreams my little fix-it man. Thanks for the gift Bruce & Linda!!

I love it! Before I was a mom I always dreamed of having boys who would pack around action figures or cars or tools...now I have 3. So fun! Although Jonah has always chosen to carry things like my vacuum attachments for a sword and the keyboard book rest as his shield...his preschool teachers were always excited to see what he'd come up with for show and tell!
