Looks like we're in the final phases of freedom before Ethan is on the move. I've started setting up a make-shift play mat (i.e. blankets) on our floor in the family room with extra padding to allow Ethan to play while trying to protecting him from hitting the hardwood floors. He's really starting to get around & can get to almost anything by rolling, scootching etc. He's getting more and more mobile by the day, and gets frustrated when things are out of his reach - but still no crawling. I don't think we have long.
Ethan is still trying to figure Dylan out. He likes to grab onto Dylan's ears, "pets" him, and often stops playing to w
atch him - but when he's tired, he typically doesn't want him to get too close. Dylan, on the other hand, is probably still trying to figure out who this little person is that has stolen all his attention & may be wondering when he's leaving. Thankfully, Scot has been doing a good job (when he's home) of giving
Dylan some alone time and has been working to train him to go on walks without having to be on a leash (without tearing off after other dogs, small children, or anything that moves). So far so good. He's a really sweet dog and has been SO good with Ethan - we're lucky, we hear that isn't always the case. He'll REALLY be convinced he loves Ethan as soon as the food starts collecting on the floor around his high chair. I figure we're just a month or two away.
