OH, CHRISTMAS TREE!

Saturday, Dec. 2
Today we spent most of the day relaxing...which seems crazy when I think about how I spent my evening. Tomorrow is yet another open house, so around 8pm, Scot thought I should call Don (our realtor) and ask him if he thought we should put up our Christmas tree. Naturally, Don thought it would make the place feel real cozy etc., so we turned up the carols and unleashed our holiday spirit.

Scot and I had recently purchased a fresh cut (looks real), pre-lit fake tree, so actually putting the tree together was no big deal...it was once the tree was up and we didn't have much to put on it that became the issue. (NOTE: We bought a 7 1/2 ft. tree thinking that it looked like the perfect size...when we removed the tie from the base of the tree, I felt like the Griswold Family. Let's just say the circumference of the base of the tree was a whole lot bigger than it looked when on display, but after removing all the furniture from the room, it looks fine. Ha ha). I have been collecting ornaments here and there, but the tree was pretty bare, so off to Target I went at 9PM to get some ribbon, a tree topper & some red and green glass ornaments to fill in the empty spaces. I got a call from Scot at 9:30 saying that Ethan was awake and wouldn't last long without his mom, so I rushed to the checkout and made it home by 9:45 to find Ethan and Scot watching some Celtic music program. (Scot claims Ethan enjoyed the music...I think Scot liked the pretty singers and the jumping gazelle violinist girl - I'm sure Ethan loved it too).

A few minutes after I walked in the door, Scot handed Ethan over and told me he was headed for bed. It was going to be our project to put up the tree, but it somehow turned into my project, which in the end was fine. In addition to the tree I still needed to finish the rest of my to do list, i.e. the dishes (which Scot had started before Ethan woke up), folding of the laundry, packing etc. before our mid morning departure to Denver. I got Ethan back to bed and started in on the tree decorating...the end result displayed above. All in all, I think it turned out pretty nice. Judie made the beautiful Christmas tree skirt and stockings for Scot and me - it's hard for you to even see how amazing they are. (Thank you Mom W!) After finishing the rest of my projects I was FINALLY headed for bed around 1:30 AM, only to have Ethan wake up and need my help, so I ended up falling into bed at 1:45 am.
In the end, everything turned out fine - and Scot cooked me breakfast and did the bulk of the Sunday morning straightening that I was too tired to do, so that helped a lot. We were able to get out the door and made it to Denver in time to change our clothes and head off to church with the Woolley's. These open houses are a little bit of a pain, hopefully they'll prove to be worth it.

* We got word (Sunday night) that the Open House had some traffic and one couple that seemed very interested in the house. No offer, but we'll see if it turns into anything.
