WET AND WILD

8/8 - Today we spent the majority of the day on (or in my case at) the Snake River in Wyoming. Roy and Angela brought their raft - and Roy, who spent years as a river guide, thought it would be fun for the family to take some float trips. He took 3 separate crews down the river. The first 2 trips, the boat was filled with kids and parents who were interested in taking a run down some pretty easy water.

Ethan and I spent most of the day running the shuttle for all the rafters and just hanging out with everyone. Scot was on his own fishing today, but before he left, we both decided that it wouldn't be safe for me to take Ethan down the river. He'll have to wait until he's a little older & has a little more swimming under his trunks, at least more than a "mom and me" swim class. Ethan was so good, despite the fact that he REALLY wanted to play on his own in the river.

After the first 2 trips were completed, we had a picnic near the river before the last group took off on the most intense run of the day, estimated to take at least 2 hours. The rest of us packed up the cars and headed back to Driggs so that the kids could play and take a dip in the hot tub.

Here's the crew that ventured down the class 3 rapid called the Big Kahuna. Apparently, it was a pretty crazy ride - the raft that was in front of them headed down the rapid folded in half. I'm sure that was less than comforting to watch that as they approached the drop - but they made it without losing anyone from the raft. From what they tell me, Cade was nicknamed "windshield" cause he sat front and center for most of the trip & therefore took the majority of the water. Rachel, however, sat in the windshield position for the big drop & once they were safely out of that rapid, she gave Cade his spot back.

Thanks Ang & Roy for such a fun day!
