This has been a big week. We celebrated Grandpa Bob's 95th birthday... talk about a milestone! Mom and Dad Woolley
hosted the big celebration, and even Judie's brother, Uncle Buck (or for Grandma Jerri's sake - Uncle Jack), Aunt Jo & Hannah came up from Durango for the big day. We feel really lucky to live close enough to be able to celebrate with Grandpa Madden - we love you!
Here are a few things I've heard Ethan say to Brynn lovingly in the last couple days.
"Brynn, my darling."
If only he would exude such love in all hours of the day...there would be less tears - for everyone. ( : He's such a sweet boy, but sometimes he is too much boy for the girls. He's been going through a somewhat rough phase these days, and is certainly testing me and my patience at times. All in all, he's a pretty perfect kid even though he can be a stinker, and doesn't always listen and obey the way he should, but we're working on that... hopefully I can figure that out sooner than later.
We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse tonight. Aside from the fact that I'm extremely full right now, it was delicious. It was kids night, so there was a balloon man, a face painter, ice cream sundays - the works. We skipped all but the balloon guy. He made Ethan a green sword (Ethan's favorite color - bonus points), and a flower headband for Brynn. She looked so cute that he asked if I would stop by his wife's booth (the face painter) to get her picture taken. After one headband popping (the flower stayed in tact), I tracked him down and had him put another headband on...stopped by the face painting booth for a quick photo (Brynn wouldn't smile - but she was cute anyway) and we were off.
Today, Ethan went into the bathroom to do his business. After I knew he had been sitting in there for a while, I went to check on him to see if he needed any help. I found him sitting on the toilet, rubbing hand soap onto his legs - when I asked him what he was doing, he said "Mommy, did you know that when you put soap on your legs it travels up to your tummy and becomes poop?" I couldn't help but laugh as I answered that I didn't know that - to which Ethan quickly scolded "it's not funny..."
