And the pink eye spreads to Ethan...Yup, it's been a week of being quarantined at our house. Ethan, Brynn and I haven't left the comforts of our own home since Monday afternoon when we received their double diagnosis. Ethan now has gone from being the croup guy to being a cold guy with pink eye. Not at all what we were hoping for, but we are dealing with it. Brynn's pink eyes have cleared up now, but we're dealing with a pretty major cough now and her constantly running nose.
I have managed somehow to only get a sore throat and an achy body (for the first couple days), and Scot has had that same thing, but his had some further side effects. He is worried that he might be joining Ethan with pink eye drops. That said, we missed our entire family vacation to Winter Park. It's a huge bummer. We really WANTED to go and wish that we could've been up there to enjoy my friend's 9 bedroom house that I scored for a major deal, but alas...our ailments were against us. It's just something we have to chalk up to winter.
That's both good and bad for me - it means that I have to be extra vigilant in making sure that all smallish toys that could be deemed chocking hazards are picked up, and that Ethan understands what he can and can't give to her.
He is already VERY good at pulling toys out of her hands to replace them with things that he wants to see her play with, so I figure he's already "trained" so to speak. When she takes a liking to said toy, he will then remove it from her hands and force her to like another one. It's an interesting science, one I will not pretend to understand, but at least he replaces what he removes. We're working on not having to replace or remove, but it's easier said than done.*As a side note, I need to remember that Ethan has been saying this all the time lately - to me and to everyone and anyone else that seems semi-interested:
"When I was a little boy, I used to be a REAL fireman. Did you know that? When I was a little boy, I used to be a REAL spaceman and I would fly up to space. Did you know that?" He has also been known to say "When I grow up to be a big man, I'm going to be a hard worker man just like Daddy" and/or "When I grow up to be a big worker man, I'm going to be a REAL Doctor." Truth be told, I'm very curious to see what he really will become. No doubt, something very special.
