SPRING-LIKE DAY AT THE PARK

67 degrees and perfect today...so I took Ethan and Brynn to the park and met Liz and her kids & their friends there for lunch and some fun in the sun. Ethan was on his own, with no friends his age, but you wouldn't have known that to see him running and playing all over the park. He climbed, slid, ran, dug, played on practically every square inch of that park and loved all 3 hours of it. He was having such a good time, he didn't want to be bothered to stop and eat his lunch...so he ate some of it on the run. ( : I loved that he had such a great time. We got into our car a little after 3, far into their regular naptime (he usually goes down around 2ish) and I fought to keep that little guy awake until we got home. I tucked him into his bed and went off to try and get Brynn to sleep so that I could take a much needed nap myself. As I rocked Brynn, Ethan re-emerged from his room and had made the decision that he wasn't tired. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I tried to get him to sleep for well over an hour and a half and finally I gave up when he kept coming out of his room saying "Call me if you need me okay mom" to which I would respond "Okay, I don't need you right now cause you're supposed to be taking a nap, but I'll let you know when I need you." He'd laugh and say "You do need me, you need me right now - Silly mommy." I lost.
* NOTE: Poor Brynn didn't make it into any blog worthy photos because she was in the Baby Bjorn.

Needless to say, he hit meltdown mode right as I was getting dinner ready and prepping to head off to Scouts. Backup arrived with the chime of the door alarm and Scot's voice entering from the garage.

Scouts was worse than Ethan's meltdowns tonight - I think all the boys had been pumped full of sugar and were working on their own temper tantrums. These boys are 9 people...9! I'm making t-shirts for Liz and me that say "We survived the Bears, Feb 3, 2009". I'll wear that every Wed. night under my scout shirt to remind me that things can't get much worse. 8:15pm hardly came soon enough.

Thankfully, tomorrow is another day...another day with temperatures in the 70's. You've gotta love Colorado in the winter when you've got days like this. LOVE IT.
