OUR LITTLE OUTDOORSMAN

We went on a family outing to the Bass Pro Shop this morning so that Scot could use a couple of gift cards he'd been given around Christmas. It's basically like Cabelas (for those of you that have ever been there...) and if not - it's a sporting good store with fishing (both reel & fly) equipment, golf equipment, camping gear, live fish, gigantic taxidermy animals of every kind. I suppose it's kind of like the equivelant of being in the mountains with every known creature that could potentially be very dangerous - though they're stuffed & mounted for your protection (except for the fish - of course).

Upon setting foot in the store, Ethan was in heaven. We found the live fish tank VERY quickly & Ethan started in with "back - forward" which is what he says when he practices fly fishing with Scot. The next squeal of delight was "FISH!" which I too would've yelled that after seeing the size of the catfish that was lurking at the bottom of that tank (no lie, it was the most gigantic fish - I'd say it was about the size of a fish who'd swallowed a dozen cats, possibly more).

After checking out the animals, fish etc. Scot headed off to the fly fishing section to do a little shopping & Ethan and I went off in search of other forms of entertainment. After I coaxed Ethan to sit on this little individual floating fisherman's boat/raft - he somehow instinctively knew what to do with the oars & started rowing away. When Scot caught up with us, he was certainly impressed by Ethan's innate rowing skills.

Then we were off (mainly running after Ethan) to the motorized vehicle & boat section of the store where Ethan found himself right at home. ( :
