ARTS ON FIRE

Ethan's first trip to do a project all his own was extremely successful. I was only familiar with the paint your own pottery shop called Color Me Mine - and last week after getting Ethan all prepped to go paint, and driving over there we discovered their shop closest to us is no longer there. I was pretty bummed thinking that I would have to find a different way to say Thank You to our friends Linda & Bruce (who are a couple of Ethan's favorite people), but alas - I found a solution. Since the other Color Me Mine locations were at least a half hour away from me, I did some searching and found a studio called Arts on Fire only 10 minutes from our house. SOLD! Ethan and I headed over after his nap today to do a special art project for Linda & Bruce to say Thank you for the many many things they do for us. We selected some colors we thought would suit their house well & then I let Ethan loose with the paint brushes. He had a blast - and the owner of the shop and all the workers had the best time watching him. The finishing touch was his hand print in the bottom of the bowl...I thought it would be easy to get him to agree to have his hand painted - but boy was I wrong. He wanted nothing to do with it. The moment the paintbrush hit his hand he immediately cried out "WASH IT!" Lucky for me, I was able to somehow get the handprint in the bowl without incident (and just a minor smear). I am happy with how the bowl turned out...I wish I had done one for myself too. I guess we'll have to go back and do another one for me sometime. This is the finished product, pre-firing and glaze of course. We'll take pictures of the final bowl and post them next week. Great job Ethan!
