LEAVE IT TO THE PROS

Ethan had his first professional haircut today at Snip-Its. He was so excited to see all the colorful characters through the salon window when we pulled up that he could hardly wait to get out of the car. The salon is full of characters, mirrors, toys, tv's - a kid's haircut paradise. Ethan loved every minute he spent there until he actually was strapped into the chair and the stylist started the cut. By the incalculable number of tears shed & the screams when the water was sprayed to wet down his hair, an unknowing passerby might've thought he was being tortured. Nothing could console him - no tv, animal cracker, or sucker was delicious or distracting enough for my child...but somehow she managed to cut his hair without accidentally turning him a miniature Van Gough, which in and of itself was some kind of miracle. We went in with his straggly hair & came out with him looking like a little man. So cute. *No more baby mullet comments from you Uncle Jared (Allen). ( :

After witnessing the torture of this haircut, I was relieved that this time I was not the one holding the scissors (the first and only time I've trimmed his hair was enough for me - I will not try that again). As a sweet reward for being such a trooper, Grandma Judie treated Ethan (and me) to some delicious frozen custard after we left the salon...that certainly made the torture worthwhile for me. ( :

so sad to see the curls go...:(
I've never been able to figure out why kids hate haircuts so much. Do they think we're bringing them to their early demise when they see scissors? Like this is the end, nice knowing you? It's a puzzle.

It's that darn Rugrats episode where Chuckie SCREAMS when he's taken in for the dreaded haircut. I don't know how they do it, but every kid in America has seen that episode & ruins the haircutting experience for us all!! Stupid Chuckie!!

What a cute cut, though.

What a brave little guy. Emma had the funniest little mohawk while her hair was growing out, but I couldn't get her to sit still enough to trim it. Her first hair cut was just a month ago!

He totally does look like a little man with that hair cut. I was excited to see your comment on my blog that you are considering flying south to visit the other "birds". If I promise to sit through the next hair cut with Ethan, do you promise to come? You can stay with us if the grandparents house is too crowded:)

I can't believe his cute little curls are gone! He does look cute with or without them though. :)
