Ethan is just weeks away from turning 1...which means that I've missed documenting one quarter of his life. Here is a taste (or a quarter of a taste) of what I've missed.
1. He clearly says 3 words: Dog, Dada & Mama, and knows the sign for milk. He's been working on other words such as "that", but we'll wait to list those until they're perfected.
2. Ethan survived his first move. Goodbye Colorado Springs - HELLO Castle Rock!
3. We celebrated Ethan's first Christmas in Boise at Grandma & Grandpa Hansen's house with most of Ethan's Hansen aunt's, uncle's and cousins...we were missing Matt & Suzanne and their family. We had the greatest time with everyone and Ethan adored all his cousins.
4. Ethan started crawling the night we moved out of our house in Colorado Springs and he hasn't stopped moving since. The only difference now is that he's faster and into more things.
5. Ethan loves emptying drawers and laundry baskets and walking along furniture - we think we're a few weeks away from his first steps...maybe a month if we're lucky.
6. He has started to form an opinion about what he eats, or maybe I should say what he doesn't want to eat which is typically communicated with a turn of the head and with a hand over his mouth. It was really cute the first few times & now, though still cute, it's less effective. That brings us to lucky #7
7. Ethan has figured out that Dylan (our dog) will eat anything he's not interested in...which means that Dylan will wait (or hint) for treats to be dropped over the side of the highchair. The other day Ethan went to hand something over the side of his chair to Dylan and realized he wasn't there and with a confused look on his face he inquired "DOG?"
8. Ethan likes to push buttons (and I'm not talking about MY buttons...this time). He has figured out that if he pushes the buttons on the DVD player, the glowing lights on the DVR receiver or TV that "fun" things will happen. He also knows that I will be coming after him and typically when he sees me coming he squeels with delight and swiftly moves to a new location.
9. He likes to put things on his head and crawl around. Those things might include things such as dirty or clean clothes, towels, washcloths, colanders - if it stays, it works.
10. He is a miniature stairmaster at work - he climbs them and I have to climb behind him (the unfortunate piece is that it doesn't actually raise my heart rate so I can't count it as exercise). He loves to go up, but we still are working on the coming down which isn't nearly as fun for him.
11. Ethan loves music. He loves the piano, the radio - you name it. Everytime we go to Grandma and Grandpa Woolley's house, Ethan goes straight for the piano where he hopes the Grandma will play him some
12. He currently only has 2 teeth, but seems to be working on others - we're just not sure when they'll break through the surface. He's been drooling enough some days to merit an entire mouth full, but for now we LOVE his little grin.
13. Ethan went to his first professional hockey game with Scot, Grandpa Woolley and me - I worried that the noise would bother him, and came prepared with cotton balls for his ears. He LOVED every minute of the game & danced to all the music. I must admit that he was a big distraction for all the Av's fans around us and drew more attention at times than the actual game.
***THIS POST IS A WORK IN PROGRESS & IT COULD CHANGE AT ANY MINUTE. IT NEEDS TO READ LESS LIKE A TRAVEL LOG & HAVE MORE PHOTOS, BUT I PROMISED MYSELF THERE WOULD BE NO MORE PROCRASTINATING.
