BIRTHDAY PREP 101

I spent the majority of this day preparing for Ethan's birthday. I went to the outlets with Judie to find Ethan some sandals & a cutting board suitable for a cake decorator. We were successful on both fronts. After our shopping successes we stopped for lunch. Ethan made friends with the other patrons in the restaurant rather quickly & won the heart of a girl who was with her boyfriend in the booth behind us...Ethan is quite a flirt - thankfully the boyfriend wasn't the jealous type (at least not over a 1 year old).

When we got home I tried to get Ethan down for an afternoon nap, but was unsuccessful. Thankfully Scot was home and at the ready to help while I started in on my cake decorating. Following in my mom's tradition, I made Ethan a special birthday cake...and since he's not old enough to make a request, I made him a frog. After a couple hours, Scot was needing a nap - but Ethan was still set to party so I put him in his highchair with some of the cake trimmings. Not only did that make him happy, but it also made him extremely messy. Imagine what the addition of the frosting will do to this picture.

I finished the cake & it turned out just the way I had hoped. We're on the birthday countdown.
