ETHAN'S FIRST PRIMARY TALK

Ethan was asked to give a talk in primary about how being baptized is following the example of the Savior....or something of that nature. For a week, I talked a lot about needing to write the talk, and then Aunt Sarah (being proactive and helpful) wrote a perfect talk for Ethan. She had him tell it to me, and I was teary to be sure. This is what he said:

"When we turn 8 years old we will all have the chance to be baptized. When we are baptized, we make
a covenant, or promise, to our Heavenly Father. We promise that we will be an example of the Savior in all that we do.
Our baptisimal covenants are repeated every week in the Sacrament prayers. We promise to take the Saviors name upon us, always remember Him and keep His commandments.
This means that we act as Jesus would in every situation. Jesus set the example for us by showing us how to be obedient, how to serve and how to love. He also set an example
by being baptized even though He was already perfect. I am excited to follow the example of the Savior by being baptized someday. In the name...Amen"

He wasn't scared in the least when he gave the talk. He stood at the pulpit and enunciated every word clearly.
It was absolutely perfect, I was so SO proud of him. After primary was over, many of the teachers and leaders in attendance mentioned to me that it was one of the best talks they have ever heard in primary. Thanks Sarah...and Ethan. ( :

This afternoon, Scot and I were talking about something that was frustrating him, and Ethan happened to be in the room with us. While trying to downplay his frustration, Scot said to Ethan:

Scot: I've got all these crazy leaders above me. What do you do if you have bad leaders Ethan?
Ethan: You kick them.

I know that's not what we're teaching him to do, but it sure was funny at the time.
