I just realized this morning that I didn't have a picture of both of the kids with the jack-o-lanterns. This was one of the best ones we got...it's the story of my life. One looks - the other one doesn't . : /We had a great Halloween this year. Our
friends, Rodman and Merideth Likes, had a 1st birthday party for their youngest son, Rowan today. Brynn is quite fond of Rowan, even though she's an older woman...but his brother Nathan (who is a little older than Ethan) always loves on Brynn when she's around. So cute. Sarah and I dressed up as the Black Eyed Peas (one of the easiest costumes imaginable), Brynn was a little fairy & Ethan was the Ninja Turtle, Leonardo. Scot was supposed to dress up as a Black Eyed Pea as well, but he opted out at the last minute (big shocker). Next year, I'm going to make sure he dresses up as something outrageous...I'll start working on ideas now. As with the pumpkin picture, this was the best picture we could get of me with both kids. They were both upset that I stopped them from playing at the party for a minute. Kids these days.
After the party, we all headed out trick or treating with the kids. We had hopes of going together (or at least, the parents did), but that hope didn't last long when all the kids ran off through the neighborhood with their friends in different directions.
It was actually a pretty nice evening here, so we headed out to trick or treat with light jackets on, or in Ethan's case - no coat...he said he didn't need it because he wasn't cold. (Just for the record, that means it was REALLY nice...it's usually FREEZING here on Halloween. The joke is that in Colorado, you pick a costume based on whether or not it will fit over a parka). Scot missed our friends party, but was able to join us for the trick or treating.
We piled on the tail gate of our Land Cruiser and Scot drove us to a few of our friends houses in our neighborhood that were a little farther than we knew the kids would want to walk, and then we headed back to the houses near ours.
Ethan was thrilled to be able to trick or treat at his teacher, Ms. Betsy's house. At nearly every house we went to, he had something very exciting to share about his cool Transformer bag that had Optimus Prime on it, or he'd make reference to the fact that he was a Ninja Turtle. Everyone thought he was so cute - and Brynn was a show stopper as well.

Aunt Sarah and I thought for sure we Ethan would get tired of trick or treating after a short time, but boy were we wrong. He kept telling us that we couldn't go home because he needed to fill his bag to the top. YIKES. (A total switch from last year when I couldn't get him out the door, not even to trick or treat next door). After we had done one full street, we swung by the house so that Sarah and Daddy could swap spots (Scot had gone home early to pass out candy). We went to a few more of the neighbors houses and finally, Ethan decided he needed to have Daddy carry him home because he was tired. When we got home, Grandma Judie and Grandpa Steve came over to see the kids. Ethan went into the dining room to dump out his Halloween loot and surveyed the damage, and Brynn followed his example. Now that they've gone to sleep, it's off to hide the candy.
Happy Halloween!

They are adorable! I can't believe how mature they're looking. Thanks for the blog.
